Our first step is to gather social, cultural, city, state, and federal support to initiate the renovation process of the Grande Theatre. This theater serves as an important reminder of the Hispanic cultural roots in Harlingen and the Rio Grande Valley. With your help, we can preserve this rich legacy for future generations. Your support will not only help restore this historic theater but also contribute to the development of the local community and the flourishing of the La Placita Arts District.

Once we have secured the necessary funds, we will begin the process of reconstruction and renovation of the building. Our goal is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Grande Theatre while modernizing it to meet the needs of today’s community. This project is a great undertaking, but with the support of the community, the city, historic preservation organizations, the Rio Grande Valley, and South Texas as a whole, we are confident that this great endeavor will come to fruition.

Finally, we will present the project to the community for the social renewal of the area. The Grande Theatre and Gutierrez Memorial Park will be the anchors of the La Placita Arts District, changing the dynamics of the entire area. Once this project is completed, the Grande Theatre will serve as a hotspot for culture and entertainment, providing movies, musical shows, plays, open mic nights, comedy nights, and much more.
